Lake County’s volcanic, rocky soils and high-elevation vineyards produce wines with concentrated fruit, firm structure, and vibrant acidity, often showing a mineral edge. In contrast, Mendocino County’s mix of cool coastal influence and warmer inland valleys creates a diverse range of styles, from fresh, aromatic, and elegantly structured wines near the coast to riper, fuller expressions inland.
