Owner Kiernan Slater Patusky’s ancestor John Glascock built the first Rockburn Farm house on Goose Creek Road in Upperville, Virginia in 1720. His descendant Thomas Glascock purchased Rose Hill farm, including the current vineyard and winery site, in the 1840s. When Mr. Glascock's granddaughter Tacie Glascock Fletcher married George H. Slater in 1905, the farm passed into the Slater name.

With the help of her parents, Bob and Alice Slater, Kiernan and her husband, Chris Patusky, planted the vineyard in 2010 and moved back to the farm in 2011 with their two young children.  They built the winery and produced their first vintages in 2014, thus continuing a nearly 300 year tradition of family farming along Goose Creek.
